The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever (Bevelstoke, #1)

2 March 1810… Today, I fell in love.

At the age of ten, Miranda Cheever showed no signs of Great Beauty. And even at ten, Miranda learned to accept the expectations society held for her—until the afternoon when Nigel Bevelstoke, the handsome and dashing Viscount Turner, solemnly kissed her hand and promised her that one day she would grow into herself, that one day she wo

At the age of ten, Miranda Cheever showed no signs of Great Beauty. And even at ten, Miranda learned to accept the expectations society held for her—until the afternoon when Nigel Bevelstoke, the handsome and dashing Viscount Turner, solemnly kissed her hand and promised her that one day she would grow into herself, that one day she would be as beautiful as she already was smart. And even at ten, Miranda knew she would love him forever.

But the years that followed were as cruel to Turner as they were kind to Miranda. She is as intriguing as the viscount boldly predicted on that memorable day—while he is a lonely, bitter man, crushed by a devastating loss. But Miranda has never forgotten the truth she set down on paper all those years earlier—and she will not allow the love that is her destiny to slip lightly through her fingers…

Good Lord. Today I fell in love. And then I fell out of love. Sigh.

I ought to be shameful, I know that. What is it exactly? Have I the attention span of a squirrel (don’t ask why a squirrel, I have no idea)? I wonder, I wonder.

And yet things had started so well. It appears that I can’t help myself : give me a smart, brave, strong-minded heroine who doesn’t shy away from her desires and a – a what exactly? A sexy broken man? Put them together and then let the magic begin : hilarious and witty banter, ever growing sexual tension – how could I not fall in love now tell me? It must be a conspiracy or something.

And then Turner started to act like a selfish jerk, so childish, really (I mean really? Seven weeks?) – not to mention 2 or 3 occurrences of grabbing wrists to make people listen to him (I know I’m sensitive about that, maybe too much, but I can’t help, there are other way to make a point than using your strength) – just get over yourself, guy, you’ve been betrayed in the past, yes, but come on. There’s a difference between being tortured and bitter, broken and bully. Turner crossed this line and I couldn’t find in me to care about him anymore.

And then everything went downhill : pages and pages of unnecessary drama (I mean 2 pregnancies, a wedding, ridiculous and downright stupid miscommunications, a near death experience Aaaghhh THIS IS TOO-MUCH!). Oh. My. God. Just stop already. And please don’t give me a child to explain the big revelation (aka. Turner finally realizing that he loves her). I might choke on the cliché here.

They both stay too whiny and insecure far too long for me to bear.

In the end, I couldn’t care less about their HEA, and the last page made me GAG. But hey, to each his own, right? As far as I’m concerned, I’ll stick with Lisa Kleypas and Tessa Dare.

Can I have a cookie now?

Now you saw how I felt.

    Now my thoughts:

    5 incredibly HOT SEXY Stars!

Now when I first saw this book I was stupid enough to not realize that it was an erotic romance novel and written by one of the best erotic romance author ever. Now when you first see the cover of the book you think its like a diary of someone or like a normal romance story or just the story of a girl suffering or whatever. But when you start reading this book your eyes just come out of your face and it makes you want to read more. I got tricked by the cover, hehe. I couldn’t put this book down. Its like the best thing ever.

Now some topics are: Beauty, England, love, romance, and hot sex ;).

    Turner:

    description

Nigel Belvestoke or “Turner” as he likes being called is a really handsome man or beautiful as Miranda would describe him.He is smart, rude(sometimes), a gentlemen(sometimes), and he was funny to ME. He is the brother of Miranda’s best friend Olivia and is 10 years older than Miranda. He is the oldest of the three Belvestoke siblings and the man Miranda has always loved. But Turner is a broken man. He has had his heart broken by his cold-hearted wife and can’t bring himself to start looking for another after her death, let alone mourn her. Until he starts talking to Miranda when she is all grown up…

    Miranda:

    description

Miranda Cheever showed no signs of Great Beauty. And even at ten, Miranda learned to accept the expectations society held for her. She is used to being called ugly or barely getting attention from any men. She is a very smart young women too. Sarcastic and sensible at times. She has always loved Turner. Since the day she had met him…

Miranda was at a party. She was being bullied by one of her best friend’s friend. She always thought she was ugly until she met Turner. Who at that time was 19 and Miranda was 10. Amazed by his handsome and dashing looks Miranda immediately falls in love with him. but what makes her love him more is the fact that he solemnly kissed her hand and promised her that one day she would grow into herself, that one day she would be as beautiful as she already was smart. And even at ten, Miranda knew she would love him forever. So that day Miranda fell in love with the man she would always be in love with.

“Oh, very well, do you want to know why I really think you should keep a journal?”
    She nodded.
“Because someday you’re going to grow into yourself, and you will be as beautiful as you already are smart.”

    description

So ten years later Miranda and Turner meet again. Miranda has grown into a beautiful women and has had good years and Turner is still a beautiful man but cold hearted and bitter. When they talked or got together it was very amusing and funny. i couldn’t stop laughing with their conversations.

Miranda is still attracted to Turner and does everything possible to gain his affection, sometimes unsuccessfully. So sexual things happen and let me tell you that those sex scenes were hot!! Seriously. Very detailed and perfect and they were just GOOD. I loved them.

“And then what would she say? I just told your brother that I love him, and I’m afraid that he hates me? I can’t be alone with Turner because I’m afraid he might ravish me? I can’t be alone with Turner because I’m afraid I might ravish him.”

    description

And those sexual things make Miranda pregnant.

“Turner let his face fell into his hands. “I’m never going to touch her again”, he moaned. “He’s never going to touch me again!” they heard Miranda roar.”Well,it doesn’t look like you’ll have much argument from your wife on that point”, Olivia chirped.”

“I have friends who have children, and they have told me how remarkable it is to have a new life that is a piece of your own flesh and blood. But I –“

“I realized that I didn’t love her because she was a piece of me, I loved her because she was a piece of you.”

    oh-uh!

Now this part of the book I wont spoil, but let me just say that its the best part. Its when Miranda and Turner get more closer than ever and its a very emotional part too.Oh and did I forget beautiful? Yes, i did. Its a beautiful part of the book.

So this whole book is like a fairy tale. Its beautiful. Its well written and PERFECT. Everything. Its also Kind of like Pride and Prejudice. But like 20 times better.

But i didn’t like how Miranda treated Turner during that part:

“I just — I know my own heart and I love you, Turner. And if you have even the tiniest shred of decency, you’ll say something because I’ve said everything I possibly can, and I can’t bear the silence, and — oh for heaven’s sake! Will you at least blink?”
    He couldn’t even manage that.”

    description

And finally: This story is a must read. I just really loved it. Despite my emotions up there I really enjoyed this book. Its a good thing I did a re-read it. And I can just walk and say:

    description

I read this book and its awesome!! 🙂

P.S. I have read this 5 time( you can see how good it is) and I recommend it for people 18 and Up 🙂

My favorite moment in this book is when the heroine has to be physically restrained because she opens a can of whoop-ass on a bookstore owner who refuses to sell her a book because he only sells to men. Apparently, they had bookstores for men only, and women only. WTF?

    You go, girl!

Our story is about a kid who develops a crush on her bff’s older brother and then carries that torch for him for years. Even though he turns into kind of an ass, she sees him through rose-colored glasses and is madly in love with him when she is old enough to have him take advantage of that crush marry.

So, of course he ruins her.

They eventually get married, but he refuses to say “I love you” to her. Hmm, trapped into marriage and yet he doesn’t love her? How dare he? And, she spends her marriage being all butt-hurt.

Well, girl, maybe if you had kept your legs closed, you wouldn’t have this problem.

In the old days, before cellphones and dinosaurs were running wild, my old grammy used to say that you always had to hold a quarter between your knees when you went out on a date. If the quarter ever falls to the ground, you pick it up and find a pay phone to get a ride home immediately.
    Grammy was a wise woman.
